What happens when I sign up? [top]
When you sign-up, you create an account and a social profile. Your user account is what you use to log in and add information to any social profile that you like. Your social profile is where your friends add and rate information that is added about you. It is also the location that any views and searches that you receive are tracked. You want to promote your social profile as much as possible in order to see who is interested in you and viewing your profile.

What is the difference between social profiles and accounts? [top]
Social profiles are similar to articles on Wikipedia in that your friends can add information to your social profile. Social profiles may be tracked by user accounts and content that is added to a social profile may be deleted by the profile's owner if that owner is a Premium Member.

You control all information that is associated with your user account. User accounts are connected by friend requests and you can track social profile from your user account by adding them to your account's track list.

Your user account has a main newsfeed - by adding users as your friend, you are kept up to date via that newsfeed of any content that your friends add to social profiles across the site. By tracking a social profile, you are able to see updates that occur to that profile in your newsfeed, and if you opt into it, you can receive email updates whenever content is added to a social profile that you track.

How is tracking a social profile (track list) different from friending a user account (friend list)? [top]
Tracking a social profile allows you to see updates that occur to that profile in your newsfeed and allows you to get email updates about that social profile. You can control the frequency of these updates by clicking the Settings link, clicking Notifications, and then clicking Tracked Profiles. You will see the profiles that you track and can edit your preferences via the same interface that appears immediately after you add the social profile to your track list.

Friending a user account allows you to see all activity of that user account in your newsfeed (except activity done anonymously). You can also see how popular you are in that user account's friend group by clicking View All on the user's account page and then selecting to order the list by Popular (once you are their friend).

How do I find more people that I know? [top]
You can find more people that you know on Socialprofile by using our Friend Finder feature. Enter your email credentials, follow the directions, and we will show you the users that you know that are already on Socialprofile. The friend finder will dramatically increase your popularity score and allow you to see more people who view your profile.

How do I increase my popularity in my friends' or tracked profiles networks? [top]
You increase your popularity in your friends' networks and social profiles by having more people that you know on Socialprofile who are interested in you.

You can find more people that you know (and would be interested in you) on Socialprofile by using the Friend Finder, and you should also be sure to share your profile, account, and content that you post with your friends on other social networks via the Share links we provide. This helps increase your popularity by increasing the number of people interested in you on Socialprofile. Having a picture on your account and also using your real name that your friends immediately recognize will dramatically increase your popularity scores also.

How does content make it to the top on a social profile? [top]
Content increases its rankings on a social profile by receiving more positive votes. Be sure to vote for content that you like and vote against content that you don't like in order to help the most accurate and appealing content about a person reach the front page of their social profile. This helps the social profile portray the most accurate and up-to-date content about people. You can see all content about a social profile by clicking the View More link next to any content type on the main page of a social profile.

What are the benefits of being friends with a user? [top]
Friends are able to see all activity of their friends in their main newsfeed. You can also see how popular you are in your friend's social network by being friends with them. Be sure to find more friends of yours who are on Socialprofile by using the Friend Finder.

What are the benefits of tracking a social profile? [top]
By tracking a social profile, you are able to get news items in your newsfeed about content that is added to that social profile. If you opt into them, you also receive email updates whenever content is added to that social profile. Lastly, you can see how popular your user account is in the social network of that social profile by tracking the social profile.

What are the benefits of owning a social profile? [top]
There are a number of benefits of owning a social profile. The social profile's owner is the only user account that can delete information from that social profile. So you are able to manage the publicly facing content on a social profile by being a Premium Member and also the owner of the social profile. As the profile owner, you are also able to get more immediate notifications about content that is added to your owned profiles by opting into quicker notification settings for those profiles.

How do I become the owner of a social profile? [top]
You become an owner of a social profile by registering for Socialprofile, since via the registration process you create a user account and social profile - this social profile is granted to your user account for free.

You can buy more social profiles by going to a social profile's main page that you are interested in and clicking the Buy Now button. If you have enough credits, you will be able to Buy the profile on the following page, but if you don't, you can add credits to your account and then Buy the Profile once you have enough credits. The prices of social profiles are increased by 5 - 10% every time they are purchased and a social profile cannot be purchased more than once every hour. There is currently no limit to the number of social profiles that a user account can own at once.

What are the benefits of being a Premium Member? [top]
There are a number of benefits of being a Premium Member. You can see the identity of users who have searched for you or viewed your social profile. You can see their location on a map when they viewed your profile and you can see their name and account if they were logged in when they viewed you. Otherwise, you can just see their location.

You can also delete content from any social profile that you own, thereby allowing you to manage all content added to that social profile. This allows you to maintain a very attractive public face for all of your owned profiles.

How does social profile track searches for me and people viewing my profile? [top]
After you are a Premium Member, Socialprofile tracks searches and views by recording the users who come to your profile. Socialprofile stores the ips of your viewers in order to also provide you with the location that people viewed your profile from. This is done by ip-to-location technology which allows Socialprofile to triangulate the location of a view based on the ip address where that view originated from.

Before you are a Premium Member, Socialprofile provides only estimates of the location of searchers and people viewing your profile, but not the actual data. This data is only available to Premium Members.

What is the difference between people searching for me and people who have viewed my profile? [top]
The difference between the number of people searching for you and the numbers viewing your profile is that searches are equivalent to unique views that you receive and the total number of views that you receive correspond to the total number of profile views that these unique viewers give to you. One searcher can create a new view every thirty minutes. So searchers = unique viewers and profile views = total number of views received from all searchers.

How do I find out the identity of the person who has viewed my profile or searched for me? [top]
You can see the actual identity of people searching for you or viewing your profile by becoming a Premium Member and then going to your owned profile. On your owned profile's main page, click either Searches or Profile Views to see the identities of the people who have been searching for you and viewing you.

How do I change information on my account? [top]
You can change all information associated with your account by clicking on the Settings link in the header. Changing some of the information requires the entering in of a captcha code to prevent a hacker from logging in via an automated process and changing your information without your consent. This protects your account and gives you added security. Via the Settings page, you can manage almost all the information associated with your user account like, email, password, about me section, etc from this interface.

How do I change information on a social profile? [top]
You can add content to a social profile by clicking the Add Content link on the social profile's main page. Select the content type that you want on the right side of the navigation. If you would like to add content to the profile anonymously, just click the Anonymous checkbox when you add the content.

You can cause the rank of information to increase or decrease (making the content item reach the main page or bounce from there) by voting the content up or down. Content with high votes makes it to the main page, whereas content that gets out-voted drifts to the bottom to languish in obsolescence. Content can be deleted from the social profile by a profile owner who is also a Premium Member.

Who can add information to a social profile? [top]
Anyone can add information to a social profile, but only profile owners can delete information.

What happens if I create a social profile after signing up? [top]
Social profiles that are created by you outside of the registration process are not automatically granted to your account. This option might be added in the future, but for now, if you create a social profile then it is created without an owner. You may purchase this profile after building it by going to the profile's main page and Buying the Profile from there.

Once you have created the profile, be sure to share it with your friends so that they will come and add high-quality content to it.

When can I delete content on a social profile? [top]
You can delete content on a social profile when you own that profile and you are also a Premium Member. Go to the View More page for that social profile and you can click on the Delete link next to the content item that you would like to delete.

What happens if a profile that I own is purchased away from me? [top]
If a profile that you own is purchased from you, then you will get an email notice and you will be able to purchase the profile back from the new owner so long as you have waited an hour before doing so.

How do I manage my email settings? [top]
You can manage your user account's email settings by clicking Settings and then clicking the Notifications link. There are several user account related settings available there and if you would like to edit email settings related to tracked profiles or owned profiles, you can click on the Owned Profiles or Tracked Profiles links on that page. You can also use the links in emails that you get from Socialprofile to get to these pages.

How can I become a Premium Member? [top]
You can become a Premium Member by clicking here or by clicking the Premium Member link in the header of the site or by buying Premium Membership on the page that you are forwarded to after trying to access premium content. You can pay for membership via any major credit card.

How much does it cost to be a Premium Member? [top]
The cost of being a Premium Member is laid out on the Premium Benefits page that is linked to in the header. All membership terms are billed upfront and renew automatically when the membership term lapses. You can cancel your membership going to the Settings link and then clicking Membership on the succeeding page. If you cancel you will not be billed for any subsequent membership terms.

How do I cancel my Premium Membership? [top]
By cancelling your Premium Membership, your subscription will not automatically renew. You will be able to enjoy Membership Benefits throughout your current Membership Term, however, your Membership Benefits will lapse at the end of your current term. This means that you will no longer be able to see your profile views or who your searchers since Socialprofile will stop tracking your social data for you once your current Membership Term lapses. If you are sure you want to cancel, then you may do so by clicking here and following the instructions.

Why do captcha codes keep popping up? [top]
Captcha codes are used throughout Socialprofile to prevent automated posts, ratings, profiles, and users from being added to the site. If captchas were not used, then you would see an endless array of content added by spammers or people trying to game the rankings of particular content items.

Using captcha codes allows us to continue to provide you the most relevant and accurate content, thereby providing you with the best experience possible using our site.

Can I see the author of an anonymous post? [top]
It is not possible to discover the identity of the author of an anonymous content item.
